How to Establish a New Virtual Server in Dreamweaver CS4 (Windows)

Configuring the local info option

  1. Make sure the highlight is on the local info option in the top left of the screen

  2. In  the box for Site name, call your site ANYTHING. You can use either capital or small letters to name your folder, but if you use capital letters, use them throughout.  If you use small letters, use them throughout.

  3. In the box for local root folder, type ANYTHING after c:\wamp\www.  Or better yet, click on the files icon to the right of the box and click through your hard drive until you have selected the www folder.  Then you can click on the new folder icon on that screen and create your new folder called ANYTHING inside thewww folder.

  4. In the box labeled default images folder go ahead and click on the files icon to the right of the box and click on your images subfolder if you are using one for your images.

  5. Don’t mess with the HTTP address box. You can leave it on the default setting, which is http://

  6. Your screen should now look like this. Notice that Dreamweaver has added an expression in the HTTP address box.  It has added localhost/ after the expression http://
